High 5 for FrIDaY !!

1. My husband is so sweet. I just love him ! He works so hard, does amazing work around the house, is thoughtful, kind, loving, funny, way smart, everybody likes Gary. Last weekend he was out of town working. I just did my usual laundry, cleaning house, I washed and cleaned out the vehicles, I worked in the yard...I try to do my part.....

When I got home Friday night - this is what I found on my pillow...
Isn't that just the bomb !!

2. Anyone who knows me - knows that I love PURSES. My husband thinks I have too many (but compared to his caps...I don't think so) I found this purse at Target. I love it. It has 4 pockets all around the outside. I love it so much, I went back and got a black one ( ya know, just in case) I found the wallet at Wal-Mart. I like it because it carries everything I need and if I don't want to carry a purse, it has a handle where I can just take it.

3. I am back on my "watch what you eat" diet. Really hate calling it diet, isn't everything we eat on "our" diet??
I found this wonderful recipe and made it this week....YUMMMEEEEE !

Skillet Pork and Cabbage: Image of pork and cabbage
Here is the link. I didn't flour my pork first, just browned them in the skillet with some PAM spray and salt and pepper....

4. My daughter-in-law Robyn introduced me to charming CHARLIE...OMGosh...I am in love. Unfortunately the closet one to me was about 30mins from home and work...UNTIL last Tuesday. They opened up one 10 minutes from work and right on my home.....isn't that the grandest............I was there yesterday...
If you don't know about it, all their GREAT stuff is grouped by color....so whatever you are looking for in whatever color....you just walk yourself right over to it - Guess which color I went to first
- PURPLE -
Among new silver earrings, purple blouse, purple shoes - I found these....just makes you think of SPRING...

5. This is really not a high five anything. Eating a peanut M/M - (not on my diet) I broke a tooth. It has to be a sign.....I got caught. Can't see the dentist until NEXT Tuesday.....lesson learned....

Put me in coach...

I think "team" sports is a must for the young. Nothing teaches patience, sharing, winning, losing, doing your best, there's no crying, no picking up and pampering by mom or dad or grandma or grandpa. No, "i can't" , "I won't", "leave me alone"...blah blah blah. It's the start to the rest of your life when you get out in the big, bad world, and most of all it exposes you to the love of sports.
Did you know, I LOVE SPORTS !!

This past weekend, my oldest grandson - CODY-man....started T- ball. T-ball is fun as it should be. I talked to Cody after his game and he informed me that he hit 2 homeruns (in t-ball, I think everyone hits a home-run, but don't tell Cody that).  He was so excited and I understand from his proud mom and dad - he did really well. Cody (as well as Jaycee) have that drive and competition in their blood
(maybe a trait from dad....)

This will be an excellent start for Cody into the world of "TEAMS"
..there is no "I" in team.

A lesson we could all stand to learn...

Way to go Cody ! Can't wait to see a game in person!!

Stop and Smell the Roses....

Yesterday my neice was involved in a ATV accident. Left her with broken ribs, broken leg, two collapsed lungs and numerous other injuries. She has a long road ahead. Sometimes, it takes a tragedy to make us all stop and think and remember that life is short and you should stop and smell the roses.

Today's task - I am going write down 3 inspirational quotes and post them where I will see them everyday.
(My bathroom mirror, my car dashboards and my desk at work !!)

Please join me by writing 3 quotes that speak to you and post them where you will see and read them everyday
......please share them with me....

Let's all have a great week - and remember those that you love
and those that love you back!!

HiGh 5 fOr FrIDaY!!!

It's here..FRIDAY.....

1. Spring has arrived - duh - anybody else notice?? One of the best things about spring in Texas are the bluebonnets....our state flower. They cover hillsides and open pastures and little patches here and there....this week they are blooming everywhere..another GRAND thing about the state of TEXAS...

2. My second Birchbox arrived. I cancelled my subscription. I was very disappointed in the 2 boxes I got. In each box, I only liked 1 or 2 things.....
not worth the monthly subscription $$.
Here is what this month brought me....REALLY??
ANICK GOUTAL..what? a citrus PARFUME.....I hate citrus....
AHAVA....what? a lotion...it was ok
NIA24.....what?...a cleansing scrub. I do use a face scrub....but not at this price
OROFLUIDO...what?....a hair treatment. Haven't used it - but I might
RGB...what? White nail polish - I don't think so
and last but surely least....
TEA FORTE'...what?...skin smart teas.- UGH..I don't drink HOT tea and I don't drink flavored tea.
Might have to pass this on to my husband....not that I see him caring about skin smart tea...
Not sure if BIRCHBOX read my profile, but I am guessing not!!
The H5FF is that I cancelled my subscription and I won't be wasting my money anymore!!

3. SWAPPING (1)...I will be doing two. One is my daughter-in-laws FLIP FLOP swap. Who doesn't love flip-flops?? I live in flip flops as much of the year as possible. In Texas, that is a great part of the year!  It is a staple, it's a must, it is a fact of life! Can't wait to get started. If interested...
here is Robyn's link....http://robynwheat.blogspot.com/ - this is gonna be good!!

4. SWAPPING (2)...this is a CRAFTERS SWAP. I love to craft. Love to create something and give it away. I love DIY projects - so this is perfect for me. Can't wait to see what I get. Here is the link to the blog that is doing this. I read her blog daily and LOVE IT !!
If you are a crafter and would like to join in...

5. Now onto a bittersweet H5FF....I have been driving a 1999 Mazda Miata for the last 4 years. I love, love, love this car. But as with all good things...it has come to an end. My husband and I have decided it is time to move forth - and the fact that CRAWLING in and out of it has taken it's tole on my aching back.
I sold "CANDY" last night (yeah - I know - I name my cars). She has been a blast and of all the vehicles I have sold and traded, I thought I would cry over this one...but I was strong (that and the fact that I didn't want to listen to my husband say OMG!!!) So, I sold her........to my BOSS. I know, what am I thinking?
He said he is buying it - for his daughter. She is 13.....he is saving it for her...RIGHT.
HE said the good thing about it, it only seats 2 - no worry of riding around with A car full of friends !!
I agree....sounds like a great reason to buy a car - 3 years before she is ready to drive it. She is gonna be the HIT of all her high schools friends
Lucky girl. In the meantime...I think he is gonna give it a whirl or two...

Goodbye Candy...it has been a BLAST...

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

Spring has arrived....

Spring is officially here. When I think of spring and Easter...the color purple - automically comes to mine (that and the fact that it is my favorite color)....I think it also symbolizes spring and the renewal that Easter brings forth.....
See More About:
  • Purple Colors
From pale purples to deep purples, the color purple is intriguing.
| Cool, Calming Colors | Warm, Exciting Colors | Mixed Cool/Warm Colors | Unifying Neutral Colors
Purple is warm and cool. Explore the meaning and symbolism of the color purple and colors that go with purple and the light and dark shades of purple from palest orchid to deep dark violet and indigo.
Shades of Purple: These words are synonymous with purple or represent various shades of the color purple: amethyst, eggplant, indigo, lavender, lilac, magenta (see fuchsia), mauve, mulberry, orchid, plum, pomegranate, puce, royal, thistle, violet, wine.
Royalty and Spirituality, the Nature and Culture of Purple:
Purple is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color. Pantone selected the color Blue Iris (PANTONE 18-3943) as the 2008 Color of the Year telling us: "Combining the stable and calming aspects of blue with the mystical and spiritual qualities of purple, Blue Iris satisfies the need for reassurance in a complex world, while adding a hint of mystery and excitement."
Purple has a special, almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. Because purple is derived from the mixing of a strong warm and strong cool color it has both warm and cool properties. A purple room can boost a child's imagination or an artist's creativity. Too much purple, like blue, could result in moodiness.
The color of mourning for widows in Thailand, purple was the favorite color of Egypt's Cleopatra. It has been traditionally associated with royalty in many cultures. Purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank. The Purple Heart is a U.S. Military decoration given to soldiers wounded in battle.

Happy Spring !!

High 5 for Friday

Spring Break.......yes! It has been a great week. We started the week with a trip to Maryland to visit with Corey and family. We celebrated Pops and Annabelle's birthday, went to Washington D.C., National Zoo, downtown Frederick and lots of family get togethers.....pictures are worth a thousand words!

1. Washington D.C. -
Cartwheels on the capital lawn....

We did our part "holding up the government"....

Korean War Memorial....very moving, life size soldiers......

Vietnam Memorial....gave me chill bumps to walk by the thousand and thousand and thousand of names.

The Lincoln Memorial....I opted to babysit the stroller....that's a LOT of steps.....

The White House..........

Annabelle, Jaxson and Gracie

Finally....FOOD. We ate the EBBITT GRILL. A must do in Washington, D.C.
Great food, landmark building and good company.....

The end to an amazing day. We walked for 6+ hours....I just knew we had done, oh let's say 15-20 miles.............when Corey mapped out our route..it was a -
are you ready??????......
5.9 miles.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

The WHOONS (Wheat +Coon)

2. Our next adventure was to celebrate Pops and Annabelle's birthdays.
Pops is one proud grandpa to share a birthday with his youngest grandaughter !!

It is always very special for us to be able to spend birthday's with our g-babies.

Love you Annabelle...Happy Birthday baby girl!!

Miss Belle turned the big 3 and Pops turned the big.......

The day ended with a campfire........

3. The National Zoo....our number one mission here....see the PANDA'S....
we came, we saw, we left.
I have to say I was a little disappointed in the zoo. It is small compared to our local zoo.

4. We did downtown Frederick the morning before we left. It is a neat little town with lots of shopping and eatery.

5. We were a little early for the full blown Cherry Blossoms...we did see some beginning to bloom......they smell wonderful!!

All in all - a great trip.
Love spending time with Corey, Robyn, Jaxson and Annabelle.....
Thanks to Robyn for putting together a GREAT agenda......it was fun.
Can't wait to see you guys again....
Much love..

God's beauty is amazing...

Somedays, my job almost becomes too much. It is either a sllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooow day - or one so busy I look up and it is time to go home. IF if rains, it always pours. On my ride home yesterday, this was what I got to look at. It made me take a deep breath and realize I am blessed person. I have a job, an amazing husband, beautiful sons and their families, friends there for me when I need them and above all else,

God's strength to get me through the rough times
....If he brings you to it, he will bring you through it.
