Mr. Bentley to you...

As you know, Wheatie and I are foster parents for a local pet rescue group. We have been doing it since the first of the year and it has proved to be so rewarding....

Bentley was our 4th foster and was adopted two weekends ago.
This is Bentley (on the left) with his brother Shorty.
The boys were owner surrendered the first of May.
Their owners, a senior couple, were moving to an assisted living facility
and were unable to take the boys with them.
Shorty was adopted several weeks ago.

Bentley was an AWESOME dog. Such a personality and so much love to give.
His favorite treat was an ice cube. He loved to roll over and get his belly scratched. He loved to sit next to you. He LOVED to bark at the horse and when he was outside, the beagle in him had his nose to the ground. The rabbits drove him NUTS.

He was a "party" dog and loved our girls.
He was a big part of our family for 7 weeks.
His new family drove over an hour to pick him up last weekend. His new "dad" is actually the 16yoa of the family, Alex. He did all the correspondence and had saved his money up to pay for the adoption.

Happy Life Bentley !!

Three is never a crowd

I love these three men more than life itself !!

I have three of the most amazing men in my life. My husband - a top notch dad. He still amazes me in his ways. He was the best dad to my two (the other men in my life) boys. He taught them "stuff", he showed them "things", he listened, he disciplined, he got mad, he got happy, he was proud, he was disappointed, he worried (still does), he laughed, he cried,......he was the BESTEST dad in the whole world. Thank you honey, for a job well done!

My boys....the words can not express how so very proud of them I am. They have become such wonderful men and DADS. They brought me the most grand of grand angels. I am so blessed with them and OH MY GOSH - I could eat them with a spoon.

Love you guys to the MOON and BACK !!

Great Road Trip

40 years

Sunday May 25, 2014, Wheatie and I will be married 40 years. Have been together 42. It has been quiet a ride. People ask me "what's the secret to a long, happy marriage ?".
First and foremost is that you can not be selfish. A marriage is made up of 2 people (and then when you bring kids into it - it multiples even more). One partner can not always have their way. The marriage can't be about WHAT YOU WANT. It's a partnership, sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you don't. You have to give a 100% more than you get. You have to let a whole lot roll off your back. Don't take everything so seriously and for the love of GOD ~ keep your mouth shut. I can honestly count on one hand the "real arguments" we have ever had. We both are stubborn, but at the same time, we both know when to just shut our mouth and move on. When you argue and get mad, you are wasting precious time. Wheatie and I are a perfect match. We love to do things together and we love to do things APART. You can't do everything together all the time. Everyone needs their space. Share your house duties, share your money, share your thoughts, share your time, share your love.....It's a 2 person team.........no other way will work.

Trust in God and say your prayers.

To start of a long weekend of celebrating, we went to the Colonial Golf Tournament and had a blast.

Friday was spent at home, enjoying the outside and doing some s'mores on the fire. Love being at home with Wheatie.

Over the weekend we traveled to Shreveport to leave our money at the casinos. Always a good time here. Wheatie was a WINNER !!
While we there we saw Dierks Bentley in concert. Put on a awesome show..

My BIG celebration will be this summer when we take all the kids and grandkids to Disneyworld. It is something I have always said I wanted to do when we hit the big 4 0 in our marriage. I can't wait...we are going to have so much fun and the thought of being with ALL my family for a whole week is beyond excitement for me!!

Happy 40 years to Wheatie - love you to the moon and back !! Let's do 40 more !!

Shoes in the kitchen, jeans on the floor
Basketballs lying at the back door
Living room carpet shows signs of wear
The fridge and the cupboards are constantly bare.

The toilet seat's up, it's stuck that way
The sports on TV blare all day
Racetracks, footballs, all kinds of toys
How did you guess, I'm the mother of boys.
