Jaycee turned the big 10 in February and Pops and I still had one gift for her. 10 is a very significant age --- double digits from here on out, leaving the "baby" years but not quiet the "teenager"...so we wanted to make it very special for her.....

As for Miss Annabelle
We couldn't be with her this year -
Thru the wonderful age of technology - I got to watch her open her gift.
Doesn't compare to being there, miss that for sure , but it's the next best thing!!

that my back surgery has been scheduled for May - and no lyin lovelies -
I AM SCARED
...more on that later

Have a GREAT Thursday - it's ok !!

ON THE ICE....

Wheatie and I have been married almost 39 years.....been together 40!!

Our first date was to a hockey game. Waaaay back then they were a minor league team, called the Fort Worth Wings. The "other" was the Dallas Blackhawks. WE LOVE HOCKEY....and had many dates watching the two teams go at one another.

The Fort Worth Wings

 became

 Fort Worth Fire

and currently
 the Fort Worth Brahmas.

Life got busy, the boys came along, we had our own business, working all the time, lots kid activities and hockey was put on a back burner. Having two boys, meant lots of sporting events to attend and participate in. We introduced the boys to hockey at a young age and attended as many games as we could. Then, as it does, life got busy - AGAIN, school, activities, marriages, work, grandkids....and hockey slid to the side once more.

However a couple of weekends ago we decided we wanted to go and watch the Fort Worth Brahmas again. They have a new rink now and it is quiet a drive, but it is after all HOCKEY !

In steps, Stu Stewart. Stu was a disc jockey on a local radio station we USED to listen too and we we have become good friends. I say USED to because he no longer is on the THAT station and I refuse to listen to them anymore.

We now listen to him here

on Texas Red Hot Radio/internet

Stu, along with many other "gigs" is the announcer for the Brahmas. I gave my good buddy Stu a call and he set me up with some amazing seats.

THANKS STU!!

Stu did an outstanding job on calling the game. Now I am no EXPERT - but believe me I have been to many hockey games in my lifetime. Stu is a natural. He is very good at what he does, and if you have need for A VOICE 4 HIRE...Stu is your man. He can be contacted through facebook, or thru me and I will get you his contact info. Weddings, special occassions, sporting events, voice overs....you need a voice.....I got the hook up!!

We both had forgotten how much fun hockey can be. We had seats so close to the ice,
 we froze our tails off!!

The game begins by letting a long time hockey fan do the PUCK DROP (careful when you say that)

We decided to go get a bite to eat in the third period (they were winning) - but it was  a mistake for sure. One of the things I love about hockey are the fights. We missed a "dooooozzzey". Apparently the benches emptied and some pretty hefty pentalities were handed out.
We were only able to see them on the news as sports highlights.
 #@*!#*@&^@* !!

GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES.

I am a winner....I love saying that because I. NEVER. win. anything!

I follow the most amazing blog.... SatisfactionThroughChrist/ - this is a love story of tremendous proportions! The love of Christ, the love of family, the love of adoptions, the love of life.

The Hill family (like so many others also) are adopting unwanted babies. They are looking for love and love has found them. They look for support thru there blog as well as monetary support.

I bid on their auction last week (donations are ongoing) to raise money for their newest family member - a little girl.

I bid on two items and WON them both. YAY....

Proverb Jar - what a very cool idea !!
From the SweetHomeTreasures on Etsy

and a hand sewn ruffle scarf from Sewafineseam/

Good luck and love to Christie and her family in their endeavor !!

Not much of a week - boring, same ole same.

PIT:

work - I am growing so tired of it. I could have retired this past August - and I think in the back of my head I keep asking myself "Why, are you still here?" - haven't found an answer yet.

I don't get a 3-day weekend. Why is it we get a holiday for MLK but not President's Day? Aren't the Presidents - past and future - just as important as MLK?? Don't get it......

I ate way off my normal eating yesterday and today feel like CRAP!!

PEAK:

Last weekend with my Wheatie was wonderful! I love that man...

Today is Friday - and I have NOTHING that I have to do tonight - and so I am going to do NUTTIN, honey.

Haircut tomorrow - much needed and it always makes me feel "so pretty"

I get to sleep past 5AM tomorrow - (watch I will probably wake up anyway!)

How was your week??

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.....

This past weekend, Wheatie and I went to the Beaumont Ranch for a pre-Valentine get-away. This is a true working ranch, with a little flair. We visited here couple years ago and did their chuck wagon dinner. This time (thanks to GROUPON) we stayed the night. Part of the ranch has been transformed into an old western town, complete with a blacksmith shop, a general store, church and they are in the process of adding even more. They have zip-lining, horseback riding, fishing, and much more. You can visit their website here .
Each of the rooms are individual buildings and each has their own special name. We stayed in the PHEASANT ROOM. It was beautiful. My groupon was called the "Rose Petal" package. Included was  the room, dinner and breakfast, bottle of wine or champagne, variety of fruit and YUM-YUM - chocolate covered strawberries!! The dinner (bar-b-q) and breakfast are offered in the LONESTAR barn and the food - both meals were served buffett style and very good. Saturday night there was a band, so a little two stepping was in order.

Other than a storm that blew thru and kept us awake until the WEEEEEEE hours of the morning, it was a great weekend and no better way to spend it than with my Wheatie!!
GONE, GONE, GONE.........

I hit another milestone this week.....40LBS !!! I have increased my water intake and I think this is helping. For me, this is big...because I don't like water. That simple. Soooooooooooooo - I knew I needed a plan. This is my plan..
I went to the store, bought the LARGE bottle, 64ozs., of Gatorade  ($2.00) and gave the Gatorade to my boss. They say you should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I fill the bottle up with water at the beginning of the day - I add Dasani flavoring (it has no aspertame, no sodium, no calories, NO NOTHING, except great flavor...) and drink away. I have been drinking one bottle before lunch and one bottle after......128ozs of water a day!! Good for the body !!

I also have a bottle at the house - that I do the same thing with on the weekends. This is saving me money. First - I have stopped going by the Sonic and getting my usual 44oz Coke Zero on my way to work. Then, because I can refill my bottle, I am no longer buying bottled water. On average, I am saving about $20 a week.....and I am putting that in a safe place for vacation, a new outfit, a spa day or whatever I decide to use it for.

In making lifestyle healthy changes - you gotta get creative. Obviously drinking water has helped pushed the envelope on my weight lost. I hadn't lost any in about 2 weeks, and then last week - 2lbs - and I think it was due to the increase in the water (plus I have to get up and walk to the restroom more often - exercise)

Think of ways that you can be creative in making healthy, lifestyle changes to a better you.
