What I LOVE about TEXAS

I know this is not a shock to anyone that reads my blog, that I LOVE TEXAS. Wheatie sent me a picture last week of some bluebonnets (state flower) that he had taken on the road to home. When he sent the pic he said “what I love about Texas”….so it gave me an idea to do a blog posting about – TEXAS –
I am proud to be a TEXAN and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I am true – thru and thru. If you are dying to know more about this GREAT STATE, please read here
In the meantime, I have taken some pictures and downloaded others about some – not all – of the things I LOVE about TEXAS.....

This is the pic Wheatie sent me.....the bluebonnets are absolutely breaktaking right now. They are rich in color and line roads everywhere.....

Longhorns

love the Iris - especially if it is purple

Mockingbird

It wouldn't be a blog by me if I didn't include sports. Yes, I love sports...especially those that are associated with TEXAS......
Dallas Cowboys - America's Team

Texas Rangers, WE ARE A BASEBALL TOWN

And of course, the ever famous and much loved University of Texas - Longhorns

OLD PENCILS

Not only the talent but the patience this person has is really something. I hope you enjoy the ‘show’ and get something out of it. When I saw the carved alphabet letters on the tips of the pencil lead, I thought that was about it, but no – it was just the beginning! (How did he keep from breaking the lead all the time? See below.)

JUST OLD PENCILS!
BE SURE TO READ THE PARABLE AT THE END !!!

A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE BOX:
1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK.
2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.
3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.
4.) IN LIFE , YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS, WHICH WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER.
5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.
We all need to be constantly sharpened. This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique talents and abilities. Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish. Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what's inside of you.

3 Fools on 3 Stools

This past weekend Wheatie and I went to see one of favorite bands -
These guys ARE great. They are all former musicians - from Nashville and beyond and have come together to harmonize. They are always a fan favorite and to top it off - they were at the Railhead Bar b Q - which is a local hang-out. Saw lots of friends and even managed to get my boss to come along and RELAX with us. GOOD TIMES - GOOD TIMES
 and so it begins

everybody wants to participate

Jessica and the boys

Hail Hail, the gangs all here !!

CATCH - UP....

Well, the LA Angels came and went. The 'Silence4Josh" didn't work out. But, during a post game interview, JH said it was the "loudest" boos he had ever heard at the Ballpark.
Mission accomplished.....

My "I Love You"...beans. Too cool. This took about a week, and oddly enough, I was like a little kid waiting for the thing to sprout. Great gift for a Boo - thanks to Jaxson and AB.

This past weekend, Wheatie and I worked our little tails off. He has a "honey-do" list - always has - probably always will. But we made quiet a dent in it. We had to buy a new mower - and a new part, for old riding mower. Wheatie got the new part on the old mower and the new mower put together. I mowed...and mowed...and mowed."  I really don't mind it, actually kind of enjoy it. I consider it "quiet" time....I can do lots of uninterrupted thinking. And awwwwww the smell of fresh cut weeds....does a body good!!

Wheatie is such a good man. With my upcoming back surgery - HE (we) decided it would be really nice for me to have a taller mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....toilet. So this past weekend, we (HE) installed a new one in our bathroom. Now, I know what you are thinking, my feet dangle ....NO!! It's not that tall....but believe me it makes a HUGH difference and know it will be helpful following surgery. Thanks hun !!!

I have 3 of the most amazing furbabies. Sam (Samantha) Solo and Cappy. They are wonderful, have nothing but unconditonal LOVE...........but they drive us crazy wanting in and out the door. They are like kids, you get one in - the other wants out - get one out - the other wants in. It is like a revolving door. Sooooooooooooo - this weekend we (HE) installed a "doggie door". Too freakin' cool.  A little hesitant at first - especially Sam - since she is the biggest. But with a little coaxing with treats - they had it down. What a great invention.
The DOOR

Sam, and Cappy waiting her turn

Miss Solo
(sorry for the eyes - had to be quick to get a picture)

Netflix.......again - preparing for a 3 month stay at home - we re-signed up for Netflix. One of the ways to watch is to stream thru your TV with a Wii. A couple months ago, the Wii I had, I moved to the playroom for the kids. So - looking around on  the internet - I found a brand new Wii on Amazon for $100. So - I ordered it - it came in and Wheatie got it all hooked up in the living room for us (ME). What a bargain - movie time - here I come!!

*****************************************************************************************
We also went to church and my friend Louise and her boyfriend Peter joined us. Lunch at RandK Cafe afterwards!

Busy weekend - but feels so good to get so much done....now, let's see what is next??
PuT mE iN CoACh !!

It’s that time of year again – BASEBALL – I LOVE BASEBALL (actually you know I love ALL sports) – but I really, really love baseball. I love the Texas Rangers and today is their home opener.
We lost a few good players….some of those players that are no longer privileged to call TEXAS their home, have made remarks about how the metroplex area is not a BASEBALL team, wait…what???  (no names please, JOSH HAMILTON)
A 15yoa avid fan and his brother started a facebook, twitter, t-shirt  campaign, as soon as JH made his statement. He calls it
“Silence 4 Josh.”
JH made the statement that when his current teams comes to OUR HOUSE today - REAL baseball fans will cheer him, while most of the Ranger fans will “boo” him, because WE ARE NOT REAL BASEBALL FANS. Excuse me, sir….baseball has been in the metroplex area since 1972……
WE LOVE OUR BASEBALL..
I won’t be at the game on Friday – when the LA Angels and JH come to play in our yard.  I will definitely be there in spirit, tho!!  I will be watching and listening via the internet. I support the campaign of SILENCE….let’s hope it works.
Some say it is bad sportsmanship…..I don’t think so. We are defending our team, our fans, OUR HOUSE.
“Don’t Mess with Texas”.
Here we go Rangers, Here we go!!!

It's HUMP Day....

Ever have one of those days, when even the wind blowing gets to you. Welllllllllllllll - I have had one of those weeks. Every little thing seems to be annoying me - and I know you are dying to here what they are....

1.  SABOTAGERS - Anyone, that is really a friend, family or co-worker who truly knows me...sees me EVERYDAY, talks to me on the phone, plays WWF, text or emails me - knows I have been in the process of LOSING WEIGHT....why, oh why - do they bring candy, donuts/bagels to the office, asked me out to lunch - for pizza.......

2. DRIVERS - others (not me, silly) - but MOSTLY WOMEN. They are the worst. I can bet you anytime someone is swerving, not paying attention to the green light, exiting or entering a highway, speeding, going too slow - it is a woman driver. GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS....put down the make-up, hang up the phone and DRIVE!!!!!

3. GAS PRICES - seriously? It is out of control and I don't think it has to be that way. On our recent trip down south, we saw gas as low as $3.40 a gallon. Yesterday, I saw gas - here - at $3.69? Someone, somewhere has got us over a barrel......HA

4. BURNT POPCORN - my co-workers seem to have a problem with popping popcorn in the microwave. One of the ladies burned a bag so bad yesterday, we had to open every door we could and walk outside to BREATH. Read the directions, stand watch, don't burn.....PLEASE (I can still smell it this morning, (UGH)

5. REALITY SHOWS - are they really, REAL? I'm not sure. Don't really say I "watch" any. You can't get away from them, because they are constantly showing them on all the commercials. Now when I am "surfing".....I have stopped and watched for a few minutes. There are just so many I am finding it hard to believe they are real. People can not be that stupid, that strong, that lame, that, that, that, that.....

Thanks for allowing me to rant......I know you all have your "little quirks" out there...go ahead - shout it out - you will feel better!!

Celebrating the Resurrection

Wheatie and I went to sunrise services on Easter and we were blessed. The weather a little cool, could not have been more perfect to sit, hearing the word of God from Pastor J and watch the sun come up. Pastor J spoke of how things are "good" but things can always be better. I once heard a sermon where the minister said to remember the word PUSH....pray until something happens. WOW.....good, better, great, push, Prayer.....

I watched the mini series The Bible on Sunday. I thought it was amazing and I learned so much. As I watched, I thought of Pastor J's words at the sunrise service. In each of the series, where Jesus's followers, disciples and the believers "prayed"....they prayed for the good, the better, the great..... they prayed until something happened. LIGHT BULB!! It is good, but it can be great.

The last couple of months have presented some trying times for me. I have done a lot of praying, but it wasn't until Sunday that I finally understood to PUSH, to not only pray for the good, the better, the great. Pray until something happens.

T.G.I.F...

I am so glad Friday is finally here. I was off Monday - and I don't understand how a 4day work week seems longer than a 5....go figure.

We had sad news earlier this week. A really good friend of my husbands died suddenly Tuesday of a massive heart attack. He was 50. Life is so precious and it makes you stop and think that in a blink of an eye - everything changes. Wheatie has taken Jim's death pretty hard. They just shared a beer and talked of an upcoming event they were doing together the week before. Today is his memorial and Wheatie will be speaking. He will speak from the heart and with alot of love.
Prayers to all those who have heavy hearts today. Take a minute and tell your loved ones what they mean....

On a brighter note - I got a package in the mail - ME - a package - I was like a little kid in a candy store. I was so excited and what made it even better - it came from Jaxson and Annabelle - two of my grandangels.....

It had the coolest cross made out of burlap, an "I Love You" lima bean pot and 2 really cute, handcrafted Easter cards. It made my day so much better.

The cross now adorns my front door....

And I planted the I LoveYou beans......I will keep you updated on the growing process

Today is also Good Friday :

"Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, commemorates the Passion and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. Good Friday is the second of the three days of the Easter Triduum."

I gave up diet cokes for Lent, and it was hard and seems so insignificant. I am a coke addict - but I have found that I can do without. Seems very small in the light of what God gave up for us. It did make me stop and think each time I wanted one - and it helped me to realize I am glad to be a Christian. I am thankful for all the wonderful things I have had and have at present. I am thankful for all the love I share and the family and friends that are in my life.

As Easter approaches on Sunday - "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son", say your prayers and love those that you would be willing to die for.

Wishing all a Happy Easter and blessed life!!

A delayed birthday trip...

Wheatie turned the BIG 6-0 earlier in March - and this was a delayed birthday trip. In the next several - probably more like 5 years - we plan on moving farther south in this great state of TEXAS. This past weekend we traveled down to the coast to scope things out..

We traveled on the tollway - let me tell you - you can put the pedal to the metal and MOVE !! 85 freakin mph....

We saw the first signs of spring in Texas - our bluebonnets
BEEEEE - UUUU- TTTTT-FULLLLL

Along the way - we timed it just right and got to see grandangelson -
Cody, at his first baseball game of the year.
I love baseball - big or small - and this was a great game.
They lost 8-6 - but played with all their might!!

Dad and son - what a great team

These are the coolest - WIND FARMS.....

We stayed at The Lighthouse Inn.....LOVED IT!!!
Our room opened right onto the bay -

We ate ALOT of good seafood and every place came with a view....

On the way home we made a lunch stop at one of the more famous bar-b-q places in Lockhart,Texas

Smitty's.....no plates, no untensils....the waitress said "Just dig in".....so we did

Its Ok Thursdays

Yep - it's Thursday - It's O.K.....

*I have NO idea what BLISSDOM is or why I don't care. I don't write my blog for anyone but me - don't have sponsors, make money, sell anything, and that's OK with me...

*I may lose some blog followers because I don't know what BLISSDOM is.

*I am soooooooooooooo freakin glad tomorrow is FRIDAY.

*Wheatie and I are headed south on Saturday to see my oldest grandson CODY play his first baseball game of the season.

*After Cody's game, we are headed even further south to the coast. A belated birthday gift for Wheatie, staying the rest of the weekend and into Monday.

*We returned to our former church on Sunday and loved it ! We had visited several other churches thinking we needed a new CHURCH home. But we came back, we were home all along, just didn't know it.

*I got my hair cut Tuesday - and altho I said "short", I didn't mean SHORT...

*it will grow.....

*2 months from tomorrow I have my back surgery. Actually it's not OK..but not an option at this point...I am scared to death.

How is your Thursday??
